Investment Arbitration Moot Court: The team of the University of Vienna ranked 3rd

We are delighted to announce that the team of the University of Vienna reached the Semifinals in the global rounds of the Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot Court (11-14 June 2024). After competing against several Universities, the team of the University of Vienna was able to advance from the general rounds and reach the semi-finals of the competition, ranked 3rd overall in the elimination rounds.

The team consisting of Aleksandra Zofia Lech, Alina Maresch, Lena Anna Geiersperger and Nadine Brunner spent several months preparing their arguments, practicing their pleadings in friendly rounds with other universities and participated in two pre-moots (in Vienna and in Milan where they reached the first place). Throughout the competition, Nadine, Lena, Alina and Aleksandra demonstrated impressive knowledge of investment law and public international law as well as fantastic oral advocacy skills.

It has been a fantastic and enriching experience delving into the world of investment arbitration and the team is very pleased with this excellent result.

The team is grateful to have learnt from experienced arbitration practitioners in Frankfurt and for the opportunity to discuss exciting legal issues and receive valuable feedback. Above all, the investment arbitration moot court was a great opportunity to connect with law students from all over the world.
The team of the University of Vienna was coached by Nektarios Papadimos, Hannah Grandits and Leo Jan Zirwes from the department of international law. The week in Frankfurt and the trip to Milan would not have been possible without the generous support from the University of Vienna and the sponsors Kopetzki Law, Zeiler Floyd Zadkovich and Baker McKenzie. We would also like to extend our thanks to all the colleagues who supported the team as guest arbitrators during the preparation phase.
